The Benefits of a Coil Over kits over the stock Corvette springs and shocks are very clear to see. The Coil Over kits will replace the factory shocks and the Mono transverse leaf springs with an Adjustable Shock and Coil over spring in a complete package. In the two pictures below you can see where the stock mono leaf spring attaches to the lower control arm. While the factory spring works well, it is heavy, bulky and you can not adjust the spring rate with it. You do have some height adjustability but it is limited with what you can adjust it to.
With the Aldan American Coil over kits you get 4 Phantom Series – Single Adjustable Coil-Overs with 2.5″ ID High Travel Coil-Springs. You can chose the spring rate you desire for your application, the 450lb (Soft/Light) Springs is recommended For Street Use. While the 500lb (Medium) springs is recommended for Street/Track use and the 550lb (Hard/Firm) Springs are recommended For Auto Cross/Road Racing.
